Telephone Boxes

Telephone boxes are odd.  They serve a purpose that has been replaced by the mobile phone, and consequently they have been outdated by progress.  But, they are quaint and appeal to our sense of nostalgia and nationalism, and so have a place in our society.

Perhaps the oddest element of the red telephone box is the status our society has given it by making all red telephone boxes grade 2 listed buildings.  This means that they are protected by law and cannot be altered, modified or moved without the proper legal documents.

So this series of photographs explores the status we have given the humble telephone box and what it means to our society.
