It is probably fair to admit that his project was more of a personal indulgence rather than an attempt to explore an issue or an idea.

I have been a collector and a painter of these little miniatures for years and the images show a level of self indulgence that is certainly there.  The use of rich colours display a level of beauty that is intentional, the images are made to appeal to the senses in a way that triggers a cultural emphasis of beauty.  But, when all the analysis is done, the bottom line is that I like my miniatures, I care for them and I want to display them in the most attractive and beautified way possible.
