Recently I’ve been concentrating on mainly filming and editing the forest.

I’ve decided to make a 5-minute film with each clip lasting for 15 seconds. The reason fro this is because the average attention span lasts for 12 seconds and 15 seconds seems to give long enough for the viewer to become engaged, but not too long that they get bored.

I also decided that I wanted the film to start off windy and stormy and for it to finish as being peaceful and calm. The reason for this is because when a person uses a certain environment to attain their peace of mind they start with a disturbed mind and then it calms and become still. So the scenes within the film go from stormy to calm, with the calm part taking up the majority of the film. I did think about splitting this more equally, but I then thought that when someone finds their peace of mind they want to stay there longer, hence why the film has more calmness than storm or wind.

Another point worth mentioning is that all of the sound has been added, except for one clip. This is because the microphone on the camera was producing a high pitched noise that was extremely distracting and so I looked on the website Freesound.org and was able to find some suitable sound.

The film itself is not totally finished. I think I need to change the sound on clips 4 and 5 as the tone seems higher than the other clips and so doesn’t blend with the other clips as well. Also the final clip, No20, could do with a little bit of birdsong just to help it seem more cohesive with the rest of the sound.

The actual clips I feel happy with, I think they gel together nicely and show a steady progression of stormy weather to stillness that becomes immersive. But I am happy to be at this stage as it feels to be virtually complete.
